Q. How does the user log into the Web Host Manager? (WHM)
A: To log into its WHM, first the user should go to any of the following links and just make sure to customize the links as necessary.
* http://www.userdomain.com/whm
* http://whm.userdomain.com/
* If the user is running out of bandwidth, then:
* http://hostingIPaddress/whm
* https://hostingIPaddress/whm
There are a few ways to log into WHM. The best way depends on if the domain name of the user has propagated yet. If the user has recently purchased a new account with HostGator, then it will type the following information into the address bar of browser:
http://userIPaddress/whm (Example: http://1.2.3.4/whm)
If the domain name is already propagated, then the user can use the domain name to log into WHM. Here is an example:
http://www.userdomainname.com/whm or http://whm.userdomainname.com/
The username and password as required can be found in the welcome email of the user. If the user does not have the correct login, then it has to contact HostGator via phone, live chat, or email sales@hostgator.com for help.
Q. How does the user limit which icons appear in cPanel via Feature Manager?
A: The feature manager allows the users to disable or enable icons inside of each client’s cPanel. Once the user builds a feature list, it should edit the client’s package and add the new feature list. A popular icon to enable is the Hosting Templates icon. This will allow the clients of the user to download the free website templates directly from cPanel. The users can also refer to the steps of using HostGator templates.
Q. How to setup the Remote Access Key?

Q. How to Generate a SSL Certificate and Signing Request?
A: This tool will allow the users to create a CSR. The HostGator would prefer the users to use the online form to accomplish this: https://secure.hostgator.com/resellercsr.php
Q. How does the HostGator Manage DNS Zones?
A: It can be found in WHM under DNS Functions. This area is for advanced users only, therefore ask for help or request for any DNS zone changes from their support@hostgator.com administrators.
Note: MX records will require the domain of the user to be on a special remote server list. The user should request all MX record changes from their support@hostgator.com administrators.
Here is some information to help the users to understand DNS zones.
The user’s name servers’ job is to find the server and correct DNS zone in order to get the following information.
* The A record points its domain or sub domain to an ip address. (e.g. userdomain.com -> ip address)
* The CNAME record points its domain or sub domain to another domain name, like www and mail. (e.g. www.domain.com -> domain.com)
* The MX records control where its emails received. If the user wants its mail hosted on another server, then this is what the user will need to change. (e.g. domain.com -> server.ext)
* The NS records in the DNS zone must match the name servers the user is using.
The users can refer to the steps to create the NS records when using private name servers.
