Adding Deluxe or Protected Registration to a Domain
If the customer wants to update the registration type for domain names it already owns, it can apply Deluxe or Protected Registration to them. These services are not available for all domain names. If Go Daddy offer these services for the domain’s extension of the customer, the service displays and is selectable using the instructions mentioned below. To Add Deluxe or Protected Registration to the Domain Names, the customer need to follow the below mentioned steps:
1. Log in to the Account Manager.
2. In the My Products section, click Manage Domains.
3. Select the domain name(s) needed to be modified.
4. Click Upgrade.
5. Click on one of the following:
a. Protection — Protected Registration includes Domain Ownership Protection, Private Registration and Business Registration, which keeps the domain locked and secured, lists the business information in the Whois database and keeps private the personal information of the customer.
b. Deluxe — Deluxe Registration includes private and business registration, which lists the business customer information in the Whois database and keeps its personal information private.
6. Click Add and, then select one of the following:
a. Create account – If the customer does not have an account, Go Daddy creates a Domains By Proxy® account for it. They send the user name and password in an email message after creating the account. The customer should retain this information for future references.
b. Use existing account – If the customer already has an account with Domains By Proxy, it needs to enter its user ID and password for the account.
7. If the customer agrees to the Domain Name Proxy Agreement, it needs to select “I have read the Domain Name Proxy Agreement”.
8. Click Next.
9. Click Checkout and then continue through the checkout process.
Now once the domain name is protected with Protected Registration, if it does not renew and expires, Go Daddy would place it in an inactive, protected status for up to 12 months. This protected status keeps the domain name only in the account of the customer who protected it. It is not active and its related services, such as hosting and email, do not function correctly until it is renewed. To rescue the domain name from this inactive status, the customer just needs to renew it for its standard renewal price.
